monte baldo

Monte Baldo is a massive, whose peak reaches 2218 m. and was named CimaValdritta. It follows in parallel the Lake Garda, with a ridge that extends for 35-40 km and lies between the provinces of Trento and Verona.

The peculiarity of Mount Baldo is the variety of vegetation, so it is also called Garden of Europe. You switch from a Mediterranean area, characterized by tall trees such as olive trees, laurels and oaks, to a mountainous area with the presence of beech and lime, followed by a boreal zone, characterized by the presence of pines, and finally the alpine zone, with mountain pines and flowers that cover the highest peaks ranging from 2000 to 2200 m. of height.

This is due to the different levels of altitude which create various microenvironments with different habitats. Many botanists fascinated by the floral diversity of Monte Baldo, concentrated their studies in this area and were able to identify unknown species, which is why many flowers bear the designation "Baldense" like the Anemone baldensis or the Galium Baldense.

Even from the fishery point Mount Baldo detects the presence of many species, first of all the carp, followed by trout, pike, whitefish, tench, barbel, eel, shad and alborella.
